The Keller in-line magnetic separators are ideal for metalworking operations machining cast iron or steel. Install a magnetic separator:
- lnline downstream from the coolant pump on a CNC machine.
- On a Keller TKO pump/skimmer unit as a prefilter to reduce solids loading on the cartridge filter.
- To remove chips from a sump continuously in an external pumping circuit. Consult Keller for recommendations.
How It Works
Contaminated fluid flows past the pair of cylindrical magnets. The 2000 Gauss or 5000 Gauss rare earth magnets can attract even submicron particles of iron or steel. The fluid enters through the flow passage between the two magnets and the clean fluid exits through the discharge port of the housing, with very low pressure drop. To clean, remove the magnetic assembly from the housing. Scrape the collected chips into a disposal drum. Cleaning time: about 1 minute per magnet.
First, select the strength magnetic rod that satisfies the application requirements. For moderate solids loading, choose the economical ½ diameter magnetic rods rated at 2000 Gauss each. For heavy solids loading, select the 1″ diameter magnetic rods rated at 5000 Gauss each. Magnetic assemblies are supplied to fit standard nominal 10″ filter cartridge housings. Select below from the housing assemblies supplied by Keller Products, or purchase a magnetic assembly for use in any other 10″ filter housing.
